PlayinZOI, Krafton’s ambitious life simulation game and The Sims competitor, has achieved a major sales milestone just one week after its launch. According to the developer and publisher, the game has already sold over 1 million copies—marking the fastest such achievement for any title released under the South Korean gaming giant.

Launched on PC via Steam in Early Access on March 28, inZOI quickly captured the attention of players worldwide. Although early players discovered controversial mechanics involving unintended actions such as harming children, Krafton swiftly addressed the issue by patching what it described as an "unintended bug."

Despite the initial hiccup, the game has maintained a ‘very positive’ user review rating on Steam and experienced a surge in popularity across streaming platforms. At its peak, inZOI attracted 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing third place in the Games category. Remarkably, the game climbed to the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers List (by revenue) within just 40 minutes of release.

The game's built-in content sharing platform, Canvas, also saw explosive engagement, with more than 1.2 million participants on day one and over 470,000 pieces of user-generated content uploaded.

IGN’s Early Access review of inZOI awarded the game a score of 6/10, noting: “inZOI is a visually striking life simulator with plenty of ambition, but not enough depth as of its Early Access launch.”

Krafton credited its pre-launch marketing efforts and transparent community communication for building trust and momentum ahead of the release. Events like the inZOI global showcase and the availability of a demo build significantly contributed to player interest.

Krafton CEO CH Kim expressed enthusiasm about the game's reception: “We are grateful and excited to present inZOI to players around the world through Early Access. We will continue to actively communicate with players and foster inZOI as Krafton’s long-term franchise IP.”

Looking ahead, Krafton plans to expand inZOI with new features including mod support and additional cities. All updates and DLC will be offered at no extra cost until the game reaches full release.

In response to player feedback, Krafton has committed to rolling out hotfixes throughout April to address reported issues promptly. The studio acknowledged the challenge of managing such a large global community, calling it “a next-level experience,” while admitting that they are still refining their approach to optimal player communication.
