Capcom recently shared a pre-release community update for Monster Hunter Wilds, covering console specifications, weapon adjustments, and more. This article summarizes key takeaways, including PC spec changes and potential for a second open beta.
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
The developers confirmed a day-one patch for the PS5 Pro, promising enhanced visuals. For other consoles, Monster Hunter Wilds will offer two graphical modes:
- Prioritize Graphics: 4K resolution at 30fps (PS5, Xbox Series X)
- Prioritize Framerate: 1080p resolution at 60fps (PS5, Xbox Series X). Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p/30fps.
A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been addressed, resulting in improved performance.
While PS5 Pro enhancements remain largely unspecified beyond improved graphics, PC players can expect good news. While initial minimum specs were previously announced, Capcom is actively working to lower them for broader accessibility. Further details will be revealed closer to launch. A PC benchmark tool is also under consideration.
Second Open Beta Test Possible
A second open beta testing phase is being considered, primarily to allow players who missed the first opportunity to experience the game. However, this potential second beta will not include the improvements and adjustments detailed in the recent stream; those will be exclusive to the full release.
Other improvements mentioned include adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon balancing with particular focus on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
