The game director of The Blood Of Dawnwalker explained why he quit CDPR and opened his own studio

After the successful releases of *The Witcher 3* and *Cyberpunk 2077*, not all the experts at CD Projekt RED remained with the company. Some chose to venture into new territories, leading to the creation of *The Blood of Dawnwalker*. This new game has been unveiled by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran from CD Projekt RED, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz shared his motivations for leaving CDPR and embarking on this new journey. He expressed a desire to explore different creative avenues with his friends, leading to the establishment of Rebel Wolves. With a deep-rooted passion for role-playing games (RPGs) and their rich history, Tomaszkiewicz believes that the traditional RPG framework can be further developed and expanded. He and his team have conceived some innovative ideas that they felt would be challenging to implement within the constraints of a large corporation, especially when it comes to working with new intellectual property. This realization spurred them to start their own studio, where they could take the risks necessary to bring their vision to life.

Tomaszkiewicz highlighted the advantages of working in a smaller studio like Rebel Wolves. Unlike larger studios, where communication and decision-making can be more complex, a smaller team allows for direct interaction and easier collaboration among members. This environment fosters better communication, simplifies the process of discussing and refining the game's vision, and ignites the "creative fire" needed to produce something truly unique.
