The lead developer of Assassin's Creed Shadows has put players' minds at ease regarding concerns about missing significant content when focusing on a single protagonist. In this highly anticipated title, gamers will have the opportunity to play as either Naoe, a skilled female shinobi, or Yasuke, a historical African samurai, whose presence has ignited substantial discussion even prior to the game's release.
Certain fans voiced apprehensions that favoring one character over the other might lead to missing pivotal story segments or gameplay moments. Jonathan Dumont, the creative director of Assassin's Creed Shadows, addressed these worries, revealing his approach to balancing gameplay between the two protagonists:
"I usually alternate between the characters quite regularly—for instance, I'll play around 3-5 hours with one protagonist, then switch gears and spend another 2-3 hours with the second."
Dumont reassured players that choosing one character won’t leave them at a significant disadvantage. Although each protagonist features distinct opening sequences and personal storylines, the game is crafted to adjust to the player’s choice. He urged fans to follow their instincts:
"I don’t think you’ll miss much. It ultimately depends on your personal preference. You might wonder, 'Let’s see how the game evolves based on which character I select.' Each hero brings their own unique beginnings and dedicated questlines, but the overall experience remains adaptable. You can go with your favorite, and the storyline will adjust accordingly."
