Ultimate Cybersecurity Setup Guide

Build Defense is a Roblox game where you construct a base from blocks and try to survive threats like monster attacks, tornadoes, bombs, and aliens. While it might look like a variant of Minecraft at first, it's actually closer in spirit to the original Fortnite—remember that game? No? Anyway.

No matter which title inspired it, Build Defense is both enjoyable and full of things to master. That’s why we created this Beginner’s Guide—to help you on your journey.

Build Defense Beginner’s Guide

Below, we’ve listed several key features we wish we’d known when starting out. Adopting these made our play sessions more fun and helped us progress quicker.

The goal is to survive…

When you spawn into your world and see your small plot of land, you may assume the goal is simply to protect your plot. That’s not it! The real goal is survival—in other words, don’t die. The game will throw numerous dangers at you, and it’s your job to get through them. In an ideal scenario, you’ll build defensive structures on your plot, but you can also just run around the world until the danger passes (Yes, we tried it, and it works surprisingly well). Every time you survive, you get a “Win” and some in-game currency. Progress in the game comes from collecting Wins. In short, pay attention to on-screen messages and stay alive. That said…

… dying is completely normal

Don’t stress if you die. It happens—a lot. Fortunately, the penalties are minor. You’ll respawn immediately, lose the items you were carrying, and fail the current enemy wave, but none of these setbacks are game-breaking.

You can rebuy weapons and items; monsters and disasters cannot destroy your structures, and a new attack wave starts every two minutes, so you can try again quickly. Essentially, all you lose is a bit of time, which really isn’t so bad.

Build tall, not wide

At first, we thought building walls around our plot would be a solid defense against monsters. It didn’t work very well. We still needed a way in and out—which the monsters quickly exploited.

A great countermeasure is to build a stairway way up into the sky and place a platform at the very top. When night falls, just climb up and wait. Monsters attempting to climb will often fall, and the few who reach the top deserve a warm welcome—in the form of multiple turrets. This design is highly reliable and will help you survive most nights.

Don’t just build—explore!

You’ve probably noticed there’s plenty to do on the island beyond your own plot. You can visit neighbors (other players), sell ores, and even complete quests. Many quests require a certain number of Wins first, but some, like the Gingerbread’s House quest, can be started immediately. Completing quests is worthwhile, as they often unlock new building parts.

The Shop isn’t just for premium items

As you advance, make sure you browse the Shop. Most items there can be bought with in-game currency. You’ll need a stack of Wins first, so play a few rounds before diving into the Shop. And remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and like, favorite, and follow the game for a complimentary gift.

Once ready, advance to the next area

After earning enough wins (190), you can travel to the next area and start the journey anew. New challenges, quests, and building options await.

That’s everything for now. Enjoy surviving and building in Build Defense. For some cool in-game freebies, browse our Build Defense codes.
