The Ninja Gaiden franchise is back thanks to Phil Spencer

Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally on the horizon, thanks to a collaborative effort between Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and PlatinumGames. Producer Fumihiko Yasuda revealed that the project faced initial hurdles in solidifying a concept, but conversations between Koei Tecmo's Hisashi Koinuma, PlatinumGames' Atsushi Inaba, and Xbox's Phil Spencer ultimately paved the way for the game's development.

Spencer's involvement dates back to 2017, marking years of discussions before the perfect partnership with PlatinumGames—renowned for action titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata—was secured. The surprise announcement came alongside a re-release of the enhanced Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Early footage showcases Ryu Hayabusa as the protagonist in this action-packed slasher. Ninja Gaiden 4 introduces innovative mechanics, such as swift traversal using wires and rails, setting it apart from its predecessors.

While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct, the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4, a highly anticipated entry in the beloved franchise, generated significant excitement. The game is slated for a Fall 2025 release.
