MultiVersus Unveils Two New Characters Amidst Fan Outcry

MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for the gaming industry, comparable to the infamous Concord debacle. Despite its impending closure, the developers have unveiled the final two characters gracing the roster: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

This announcement follows significant fan backlash, with some players resorting to threats against the development team. MultiVersus game director, Tony Huynh, responded with a heartfelt message, pleading with players to refrain from such behavior.

Huynh offered an apology to fans whose desired characters weren't included, expressing hope that they'll still find enjoyment in the final Season 5 content. He explained the complex factors influencing character selection, emphasizing his limited control over these decisions.

The shutdown announcement also sparked controversy regarding unspent in-game tokens. Players who purchased the premium $100 edition were promised the ability to spend these tokens on new characters, a promise now unfulfilled, potentially fueling the negative reactions and threats.
