A former employee of the studio recently revealed on her LinkedIn profile that a previously undisclosed *Titanfall* project has been abruptly halted this week, with no official explanation provided. According to the post, the game had reportedly been in development for several years before being quietly shelved.
Last year, industry insider Jeff Grubb noted that the project was not intended to be a mainline sequel in the series—meaning it was not *Titanfall 3*. Instead, Respawn Entertainment assembled a dedicated "experimental team" to work on the title, bringing in seasoned developers known for their expertise in multiplayer shooter design.
This is not the first time Respawn has canceled a spin-off idea within the franchise. Last year, another side project—an arcade-style shooter codenamed *Titanfall Legends*—was also shut down before reaching a playable or announced state.
The *Titanfall* series has long been praised for its fast-paced gameplay and seamless integration of pilot-based combat and mech warfare. Since the debut of the original title in 2014, the franchise has built a loyal fanbase thanks to its unique mix of parkour movement and intense, squad-based action.
At the moment, Respawn’s focus has shifted toward expanding its presence in the *Star Wars* universe. The studio is currently working on the third installment in the *Star Wars Jedi* saga, as well as an all-new strategy title developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
