Concord Premiere Set for Fall 2024

Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled the post-launch roadmap for their upcoming hero shooter, Concord, launching August 23rd on PS5 and PC. This follows a successful open beta. The developers emphasize a commitment to continuous updates, starting on day one.

No Battle Pass Required

Unlike many competitors, Concord will not feature a battle pass. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, character progression, and objective completion. This approach aims to provide a robust and engaging experience from launch.

Season 1: The Tempest – Arriving in October

Season 1, titled "The Tempest," launches in October and will introduce:

  • A new playable Freegunner character.
  • A brand-new map.
  • Additional Freegunner Variants.
  • New cosmetic items and rewards.
  • Weekly Cinematic Vignettes expanding the Northstar crew storyline.

An in-game store, offering purely cosmetic items with no gameplay impact, will also debut in Season 1. These items will supplement the rewards earned through standard progression.

Season 2 and Beyond

Season 2 is planned for January 2025, signifying Firewalk Studios' dedication to consistent seasonal content releases throughout Concord's first year.

Gameplay Strategy and Crew Builder

Game Director Ryan Ellis offered insights into optimal gameplay. Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows players to customize their five-Freegunner teams, with the option to include up to three copies of any Variant. This encourages diverse team compositions tailored to playstyles and match challenges. While Freegunners all deliver high DPS, their roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) offer unique strategic advantages, impacting area control, sightline manipulation, and flanking maneuvers. Balancing roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, recoil, cooldowns, and more.
