Tim Burton's Batman films remain beloved among fans' favorite portrayals of the Dark Knight - and now you can revisit them during an exclusive one-night event at Dolby Cinema theaters.
A Cinematic Milestone Returns
On August 25, audiences nationwide will experience digitally remastered versions of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns across 160 Dolby Cinema locations. These groundbreaking films feature Michael Keaton's iconic performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside legendary co-stars including Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
"I hadn't revisited these films since their production, and witnessing them with this enhanced clarity, vibrant colors, and immersive sound felt genuinely revelatory," Burton told Variety regarding the special screenings. "Dolby Atmos and Vision technologies have revitalized the viewing experience."
Dolby's Historic Connection
Notably, Burton's Batman Returns holds a special place in Dolby's history - it became the first movie ever released in Dolby Digital format. This pioneering audio technology laid the foundation for modern surround sound systems that transformed both theatrical experiences and home entertainment throughout subsequent decades.
"Burton's Batman films represent landmark achievements in superhero cinema," stated Dolby's VP of Global Content Michelle Maddalena. "Presenting these classics in Dolby Vision and Atmos celebrates Burton's visionary style while demonstrating remarkable technological advancements in audiovisual presentation."
