Supercell Hires for Film and TV: Clash of Clans Movie in the Works?

Author : Blake May 23,2025

Could we soon see Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, hit the big screen? It's more likely than you might think, as the renowned Finnish mobile developer has recently started the hunt for a senior film and TV development executive. This move echoes Rovio's successful transition of Angry Birds to the movies back in 2016. Is Supercell poised to follow suit?

While it's not a done deal, our colleagues at PocketGamer.biz have pointed out that the job description is focused on crafting a long-term strategy for both live-action and animated films, as well as exploring theatrical and streaming distribution options. In simpler terms, this role is more about planning and strategizing than immediate action. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Supercell is already sketching out preliminary plans, should they decide to venture into the world of film and animation.

Clash for the agesSupercell has been pushing boundaries with their catalog, notably by diving into crossovers and collaborations, such as their partnership with WWE. This trend suggests that moving into the film industry could be a natural progression for the developer.

Although a significant amount of time has passed since Clash of Clans was first released, it's worth remembering that the highly successful Angry Birds movie came out seven years after the game's initial launch. Despite the years, Clash of Clans still boasts a dedicated audience, and Supercell has newer IPs like Mo.co, which could be perfect for a family-oriented cinematic release.

We'll have to keep an eye on how this unfolds. In the meantime, if you're looking for something to keep you entertained, why not explore our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
