Legendary Pictures' live-action Street Fighter film has reportedly cast Callina Liang to play the iconic fighting game character Chun-Li.
According to Deadline, the actress has signed on for the female lead role. This is another indication that the Street Fighter movie is progressing rapidly toward its March 20, 2026 release date.
Liang began her acting career in the 2022 series Tell Me Everything before appearing in Foundation in 2023. She has since starred in two 2024 films – Steven Soderbergh's Presence and J.C. Lee's Bad Genius.

Street Fighter will introduce Liang to a wider audience when she brings her interpretation of Chun-Li to theaters. She will be joined by previously announced co-stars, including Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. Further plot details and the casting of other Street Fighter characters have not yet been revealed.
Capcom and Legendary began development on their latest live-action Street Fighter adaptation in April 2023, hiring Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou around the same time. What seemed like an ideal partnership eventually unraveled when, one year later, the Philippou brothers left the project due to what The Hollywood Reporter described as scheduling conflicts.
Despite this setback, Legendary remained committed to its new Street Fighter movie, confirming a spring 2026 release date in June 2024. The production has since secured a new director in Kitao Sakurai, known for The Eric Andre Show, Twisted Metal, and Bad Trip. Capcom and Legendary are maintaining their schedule as more actors join the cast.
More details about the Street Fighter movie, including how Liang's Chun-Li fits into the story, will be revealed as the premiere approaches. Meanwhile, you can catch up on the latest video game installment, Street Fighter 6, which recently surpassed 5 million copies sold.
