NieR: Automata - Beast Hide Acquisition Guide

NieR: Automata boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, upgradeable multiple times to extend their usefulness throughout the game. This guide focuses on acquiring Beast Hides, a crucial crafting material not readily available.

Obtaining Beast Hides

Beast Hides are dropped by wildlife, specifically moose and boar, found in the game's ruined city and forest areas. These creatures are identifiable on the mini-map by their white icons (unlike machines' black icons). They tend to avoid players and robots, making them slightly more challenging to farm than machines. Their health pools are substantial, posing a challenge, especially to lower-level players.

Strategies for Acquiring Beast Hides

  • Location: Focus your search on the ruined city and forest sections of the map.
  • Bait: Utilize Animal Bait to lure wildlife closer, simplifying the hunting process.
  • Respawn Mechanics: Enemies and wildlife respawn under these conditions: fast traveling, traveling a significant distance, and triggering story events. There's no dedicated farming spot.
  • Opportunistic Gathering: Collect Beast Hides encountered during normal exploration. The drop rate is relatively high, so consistent hunting should provide sufficient quantities. Avoid over-upgrading weapons beyond your immediate needs.

In short, there's no efficient Beast Hide farm. Consistent hunting during exploration will usually yield enough for your upgrade needs.
