Two major films, *Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning* and *Sinners*, have reached impressive box office milestones this weekend, each surpassing the $350 million mark globally.
Tom Cruise’s eighth installment in the *Mission: Impossible* franchise has now grossed $353.818 million worldwide. Despite a 33% drop from its opening weekend, strong word of mouth continues to support its performance at the box office. IGN reviewed the film with a 6/10, noting: "The action thrills, but the soapy tone keeps greatness just out of reach for *Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.*"
Ryan Coogler’s *Sinners* has also crossed the $350.1 million threshold after seven weeks in theaters. Notably, *Sinners* is the only film among the top 10 highest-grossing movies of 2025 that isn’t based on an existing IP. IGN awarded it a 9/10, praising: "Ryan Coogler’s first horror movie expertly blends plenty of vampires and music into a compelling story about twin brothers—played by Michael B. Jordan—returning home to their Mississippi hometown in 1932."
However, the biggest success story right now is Disney’s live-action *Lilo & Stitch*, which has already earned $610.8 million globally in just two weekends. IGN gave the film an 8/10, stating: "*Lilo & Stitch* is one of the stronger results of Disney’s non-stop remake campaign, taking the emotional core of the original and amplifying it in a stirring manner." With its momentum, the question remains whether it can surpass *A Minecraft Movie*, which currently stands at $947.1 million after nine weekends.
In other box office news, *Karate Kid: Legends* opened with $47 million globally. IGN scored it a 6/10, commenting: "*Karate Kid: Legends* has some fun additions to the usual formula for this series, including Joshua Jackson stealing the show from the series' stalwarts, but doesn’t connect emotionally thanks to some distracting filmmaking techniques."
The horror prequel *Final Destination: Bloodlines* has reached $229.3 million globally, marking a new high for the franchise. Meanwhile, the Florence Pugh-led Marvel film *Thunderbolts*, later rebranded as *The New Avengers*, has accumulated $369.6 million globally as it nears the end of its theatrical run.
