"Oblivion Remastered Retains Iconic Line Flub"

Author : Isabella May 03,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings a fresh take on Bethesda's classic with enhanced visuals, updated gameplay mechanics, and more, yet the team at Virtuos made sure to keep one of the original's most beloved quirks intact.

Long-time fans of The Elder Scrolls series are likely familiar with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf found in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first hit the shelves for PC and Xbox 360 nearly two decades ago, it became evident that Tandilwe's speech could use some polishing. One of her voice lines famously included a blooper of actress Linda Kenyon attempting the line again, which was accidentally left in the game.

As players dove into the revamped world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how faithful the remaster remained to its roots. While the game boasts updated environments, character models, and items, fans have been delighted to find that many of the original game's quirks, including Tandilwe’s iconic blooper, have been preserved. The voice line remains just as it was in 2006, complete with its lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with Jake 'The Voice' Parr's YouTube channel, Linda Kenyon, upon learning about the blooper's fame, humorously claimed, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl about whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, many are thrilled to see so much of the original's charm and quirks remain untouched. Both Bethesda and Virtuos were keen on preserving these elements, and it appears to be resonating well with both new and veteran players alike.
