Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launches with Major Update 7.0 Changes

Author : Owen Apr 23,2025

The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, giving eager PC players a sneak peek at the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its preliminary patch notes. Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have shared that while the PTS patch notes cover most of the features coming in the 7.0 update, the final version may include additional tweaks and bug fixes.

Update 7.0 introduces a range of exciting new content for fans of the franchise. Dive into the new PvE mission called Exfiltration, and equip the powerful Inferno Pistol as a secondary weapon for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes. Players can also look forward to prestige ranks in PvE and the addition of private PvP lobbies, enhancing the endgame experience and providing more ways to enjoy the game with friends.

For those who love to customize their Space Marines, Update 7.0 brings a variety of new options. You can now choose from new colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, as well as recolor your Bulwark cloth and hands. Additionally, PvP rewards have been boosted by 50%, offering more incentives to engage in competitive play. The PTS also introduces exclusive champion skins, including an Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.

Significant balance changes are also on the horizon. The update extends the weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing all classes to access a broader range of weapons. A notable change includes the Assault class now being able to wield the Power Sword without needing mods. Detailed tweaks to various weapons are available in the patch notes, ensuring a more balanced and enjoyable gameplay experience.

A particularly welcome update addresses a long-standing issue in the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a short delay, preventing griefing and ensuring smoother progression through the level.

As the developers continue to refine Space Marine 2, they've also teased an upcoming Horde mode and reassured the community about their commitment to enhancing the game without relying on live service models that might induce 'FOMO' (Fear Of Missing Out). Earlier updates from Saber Interactive have addressed community frustrations over content, promising a robust roadmap for the game's future.
