Netflix Unveils Devil May Cry Anime Opening Trailer, Promises Diverse Future Seasons
Following the announcement of its premiere date, Netflix dropped the opening trailer for its upcoming Devil May Cry anime adaptation. The trailer, set to Limp Bizkit's iconic "Rollin'," showcases dynamic action sequences featuring a young Dante, Lady, and the enigmatic White Rabbit, peppered with nods to the game franchise.
Showrunner Adi Shankar elaborated on his vision for the series. He explained that the anime's late 90s/early 2000s setting is perfectly complemented by its soundtrack, featuring not only Limp Bizkit but also other period-defining tracks, along with a synthwave remix of the game's original score by Power Glove.
Shankar hinted at the series' longevity, stating that future seasons will adopt distinct visual styles and soundtracks to reflect the diverse nature of the Devil May Cry games. This strongly suggests the anime is planned for multiple seasons.
While plot details remain under wraps, the first season is anticipated to adapt elements from the Devil May Cry 3 manga, Code 1: Dante, centering on a young Dante investigating a child's disappearance. This investigation will reportedly force him to confront his past, family ties, and the legacy of his demonic father, Sparda.
The eight-episode first season is slated to debut on April 3, 2025.
