Meta Quest 3S: Amazon's 2024 Best-Selling Console

The Meta Quest 3S achieved a remarkable feat in 2024, outperforming established gaming giants like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch to become Amazon's top-selling console. This success is particularly noteworthy considering its October launch.

The Quest 3S's affordability and standalone functionality—no tethering, powerful PC, or console required—likely contributed significantly to its popularity. While VR remains niche, the accessible price point and diverse game library proved a winning combination.

Amazon's 2024 best-seller list places the Meta Quest 3S at #11 overall in the video game category, surpassing major competitors. The PlayStation 5 Slim ranked #17, the Nintendo Switch #53, and Xbox consoles failed to make the top 80. Only a Nintendo microSDXC card and the PlayStation DualSense controller ranked higher. The absence of the PlayStation VR2 from the list highlights the Quest 3S's advantage of untethered use and standalone operation.

The inclusion of the Meta Quest 2 at #27, alongside the absence of the original Meta Quest 3 from the top 80, suggests price sensitivity in the VR market. With the Meta Quest 2 discontinued and the Nintendo Switch 2 anticipated for 2025, future rankings remain uncertain. However, the 2024 results clearly signal a growing interest in affordable virtual reality.
