Sunset Hills Is a New Novel-Style Narrative Puzzle about the Travels of a Dog Army Veteran-Turned-Novelist

Sunset Hills, the latest puzzle game from Android developer Cottongame, continues the enchanting tradition set by their previous titles, Reviver and Mr. Pumpkin Adventure. Set in a serene, pastel-colored world, the game transports players into a nostalgic realm filled with charming old city buildings, anthropomorphic dogs, and heartwarming narratives.

Accompany Nico, a War Veteran, in His Journey

In Sunset Hills, you take on the role of Nico Grant, a novelist and former soldier. The game begins in June 794 as Nico embarks on a train journey to reconnect with his fellow veterans, Ferruccio, Doug, and Roy, seven years after the war's end. Driven by a deep-seated need to reconnect, Nico's story unfolds through a tapestry of emotions and memories.

As a child, Nico was more engrossed in books and his own imagination than in socializing, but the war forced him out of his shell. Despite being small and different, which led to bullying and isolation, Nico found solace in writing. His little notebook, initially a target for teasing, eventually became a bridge to lasting friendships with his squadmates.

Now a published author, Nico's journey takes him across various cities and countries by train. At each stop, players engage in moments and solve puzzles, weaving through Nico's life and experiences.

Sunset Hills Shows That Life after War Is Strange

As a point-and-click adventure, Sunset Hills emphasizes the importance of dialogue, where clues are gleaned from conversations. Players will pick up and combine items, solve puzzles that range from finding the right object to assisting others, solving minor crimes, and even escaping from chases. The game also includes diverse activities such as stitching clothes, baking bread, and performing with a band, adding layers to the gameplay experience.

The visual style of Sunset Hills combines hand-drawn art with 3D scenes, featuring Victorian-inspired architecture that enhances the game's charm. To get a glimpse of the game's aesthetic and gameplay, check out the trailer below.

If Sunset Hills piques your interest, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
