Monster Hunter Wilds Remains a Top-Tier Game in 2025
Story, Immersion, and Crossplay Drive Monster Hunter Wilds' Popularity

Monster Hunter Wilds sold over 8 million copies within three days of launch, making it Capcom's fastest-selling title to date. In a March 10th interview with The Nikkei, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto credited the game's story and voice acting as key factors in its popularity. He also highlighted how crossplay functionality helped unite players across different gaming platforms.
In a previous interview with GamesRadar+, Tsujimoto emphasized the growing importance of the PC platform and the team's dedicated efforts to implement crossplay. "We worked very hard to achieve that this time around," he stated, adding that it allows players to choose their preferred platform and easily join friends for online hunts.
While Tsujimoto praised the game's narrative, some fans have expressed a different view, citing lengthy Seikrit rides and unengaging dialogue in various Steam discussions. Many acknowledge, however, that players are typically drawn to the Monster Hunter series for its gameplay rather than its story.
Here at Game8, we awarded Monster Hunter Wilds a score of 90 out of 100. The game excels by refining classic features, introducing quality-of-life improvements, and delivering addictive gameplay, stunning visuals, and a surprisingly engaging story.
