My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows, but nothing reignites my passion quite like the arrival of a new expansion. When a fresh set drops, I dive in headfirst, playing religiously to earn those coveted Emblems for notching up 40 wins. Once the Emblems are secured, my routine shifts to a more casual pace: logging in daily to open packs, enjoying a quick Wonder Pick for fun, and then moving on until the next day. This cycle is set to kick off once again with the upcoming expansion, Shining Revelry, launching on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will bring 110 new cards into the fold, featuring a delightful mix of new Ex Pokemon, Trainer cards, and those stunning art cards we've all come to adore. The highlight, as you might have guessed from the name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. These are unique, differently colored versions of your favorite creatures. Picture a yellow Lucario instead of blue, or a Pachirisu with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers just a tantalizing glimpse of what's in store. A standout card is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and a powerful attack called Steam Artillery that deals a hefty 150 damage. The downside? It demands five energy. However, its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards at once, making it a bit more manageable.
Another exciting addition is the Lucario Ex. Previously more of a support player in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this version is ready to take a more active role in combat. With 150 HP and the Aura Sphere attack, which deals 100 damage for three Fighting Energy and also hits a Benched Pokemon for 30, Lucario is set to be a formidable fighter.
The trailer also teases other cards that might not break the game but are sure to be fan favorites. Shiny Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are all making an appearance, looking as fabulous as ever. And let's not forget the breathtaking Tatsugiri art rare, which I'm absolutely determined to add to my digital collection.
