YouTuber's Daily Poké Gold Spree in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Over $8,500 Spent (Excluding Sales)
Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content ranging from product reviews to vlogs and challenges, recently announced his incredible accomplishment on Twitter (X). Since the game's October 30, 2024 launch, he's purchased the maximum 720 Poké Gold daily. This translates to approximately $100 per day, totaling an estimated $8,500 over the 85 days the game has been available. This figure excludes any potential savings from sales events during the launch period and the holiday season. Despite this, his dedication is evident in his complete collection of cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, including time-limited promotional cards.
The latest addition to his collection is the new "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded to players globally upon reaching a combined 40 billion cards collected. This card allows players to view the top three cards in their deck.
McDonald's x Pokémon Happy Meal Collaboration
Adding to the excitement, The Pokémon Company announced a surprise collaboration with McDonald's on January 21, 2025! Pokémon-themed Happy Meals feature collectible physical cards and in-game items. Fifteen unique physical cards, including popular Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, Rayquaza, and more, are available randomly. Seven of these cards boast a "holo" or "foil" finish. In-game, players can redeem 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses to open booster packs and select cards from Wonder Pick.
Four unique Happy Meal box designs featuring Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, Dragonite, and Pikachu are available at participating McDonald's locations while supplies last. Remember, the in-game rewards expire on March 31, 2025.
Pokémon TCG Pocket's Upcoming Trading Feature
On January 17, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket detailed its upcoming trading feature on Twitter (X). Trading will be limited to friends with cards of equal rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards, such as Special Illustration Rare, Immersive, and Crown Rares, are excluded. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.
Initially, trading will include cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, with the team promising to expand the selection based on player feedback. They aim to balance ease of use with the enjoyment of collecting. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January, though the exact date remains undisclosed.
