Pokémon Generation 10: Dual Switch Release Possible?
Recent leaks suggest a surprising possibility: Pokémon Generation 10 games could launch on both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. While many anticipated a Switch 2 exclusive release given the performance issues plaguing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the original hardware, leaked information paints a different picture.
According to reports from Centro Leaks, citing a Game Freak insider, Generation 10, codenamed "Gaia," is primarily being developed for the original Switch. However, a separate project, "Super Gaia," appears to be a Switch 2 version. Furthermore, a native Switch 2 release for Pokémon Legends: Z-A is also rumored.
The Switch 2's backward compatibility ensures that regardless of native releases, Switch 2 owners will be able to play both Generation 10 and Legends: Z-A. While improved performance on the Switch 2 is anticipated, how Nintendo might incentivize Switch 2 ports remains unclear.
Uncertainty Remains
It's crucial to remember that all this information is based on leaks and should be treated with caution. Official details are expected during the Pokémon Presents event on February 27th. However, reports suggest this event will focus on games for the original Switch, potentially delaying a dedicated Switch 2 Pokémon title for years. The possibility of a simultaneous release on both consoles, however, adds an intriguing layer to the upcoming generation.
