Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Delayed Until Autumn

Author : Nathan Mar 31,2025

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was met with excitement, but the introduction of trading quickly became a point of contention. The initial trading system, which relied on hard-to-obtain Trading Tokens and was laden with restrictive rules, left many players frustrated. However, a new update promises to overhaul this system, addressing the community's concerns head-on.

The most significant change is the complete removal of Trading Tokens. Instead, the game will now use Shinedust for trading cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity. Players will earn Shinedust by opening booster packs and receiving cards they've already registered in their Card Dex. This shift aims to make trading more accessible and less cumbersome.

For those who have accumulated Trading Tokens, there's good news: these can be converted into Shinedust. Given that Shinedust is also essential for obtaining flair, further updates are planned to refine its use. Additionally, an upcoming feature will allow players to share cards they're interested in trading directly within the game, enhancing the trading experience.

Trading Spaces

As previously discussed, the initial implementation of trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket seemed somewhat half-hearted. The digital nature of the game necessitates more restrictions than physical trading to prevent abuse, but these constraints have been a source of frustration. The announced changes are a step in the right direction, but they won't be implemented until autumn, leaving players to wait through the spring and summer.

While the Pokémon TCG Pocket team is addressing these issues, the pace of these updates has left some players wanting more immediate action.
