In *Phasmophobia*, Tarot Cards are a risky yet potentially rewarding Cursed Possession. This guide explains how to use them effectively.
How to Use Tarot Cards in Phasmophobia

Tarot Cards offer significant advantages but carry substantial risk. For safety, use them in a secure location, such as near a hiding spot or the entrance, allowing for a quick escape if you draw an unfavorable card like Death.
Each card has a unique immediate effect. However, The Fool card (similar to a Joker) produces no effect. You can draw up to ten cards without sanity loss, and duplicates yield the same effect.
Ten unique cards exist within the deck:
Tarot Card | Effect | Draw Chance |
---|---|---|
The Tower | Doubles ghost activity for 20 seconds | 20% |
The Wheel of Fortune | Gains 25% sanity (green flame); loses 25% sanity (red flame) | 20% |
The Hermit | Confines the ghost to its favorite room for 1 minute (excluding hunts/events) | 10% |
The Sun | Fully restores sanity to 100% | 5% |
The Moon | Completely drains sanity to 0% | 5% |
The Fool | Mimics another card before becoming The Fool; burns with no effect | 17% |
The Devil | Triggers a ghost event near the closest player | 10% |
Death | Triggers a 20-second longer Cursed Hunt; further draws during the hunt have no effect. | 10% |
The High Priestess | Instantly revives a dead teammate | 2% |
The Hanged Man | Instantly kills the user | 1% |
What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions are high-risk, high-reward items randomly spawning on contract maps (depending on difficulty and Challenge Mode). Unlike standard equipment, they manipulate the ghost, but at significant risk to the player. Their use is entirely optional. Only one spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings), always in a fixed location. Seven Cursed Objects exist: Haunted Mirror, Voodoo Doll, Music Box, Tarot Cards, Ouija Board, Monkey Paw, and Summoning Circle.
