"Nintendo Switch 2 Replica Unveiled by Accessory Maker"

Summary

  • Genki showcased a physical replica of the Nintendo Switch 2 at CES 2025, hinting at potential design features.
  • The alleged Switch 2 design appears larger with Joy-Cons that detach by pulling them to the side.
  • Genki created the replica to display future Switch 2 accessories, intending to release eight in total.

New images reportedly show what could be an "exact" physical replica of the Nintendo Switch 2. The images, which could indicate what the successor to the Nintendo Switch will look like, come from the ongoing 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Though Nintendo itself has yet to officially unveil the next generation of the Switch hardware, the trickle of rumors and leaks about it has expanded to a veritable flood. Seemingly every few days, a new rumor drops another bit of information about the new hardware, whether it's about a new feature of the Switch 2 Joy-Cons or about potential Switch 2 games and accessories. Many leaks are coming from accessory companies, which usually receive access or hardware specs ahead of release in order to design and prepare their products.

One such company is Genki, which, according to a report from German-language website Netzwelt, revealed a physical replica of the Switch 2 behind closed doors at CES 2025. The replica, which Genki said has the "exact" dimensions of the Switch 2 hardware, was available for attendees to hold and feel. If accurate, the replica could be the most substantial representation yet of the final Switch 2 hardware, and potentially confirm other Switch 2 design leaks from previous weeks.

Accessory Maker Genki Shows Off Replica of Switch 2 Hardware

The photos shared by Netzwelt reveal a supposed Switch 2 design that seems significantly larger than the current Nintendo Switch, with a larger screen comparable to that of the Lenovo Legion Go, a PC-based gaming handheld. The Joy-Cons appear designed to be detached by pulling them to the side, rather than sliding them up, potentially confirming rumors that the Switch 2 controllers will feature magnetic attachment. However, the same report also speculates that a mechanical lock system may still be in place to keep the Joy-Cons from detaching unintentionally. The right Joy-Con also features an additional button, which had no label on the replica.

The report goes on to detail Genki's intention behind creating the Switch 2 physical replica. Rather than showing it publicly before an official Nintendo reveal, Genki created the replica Switch 2 to show off to potential customers for Genki's planned Switch 2 cases and accessories. Genki plans to release eight total Switch 2 accessories, including for controllers and the Switch 2 dock. Genki did not drop any information about when Nintendo plans to release or reveal the Switch 2.

With new rumors and leaks looking increasingly concrete, Nintendo may not be much further from conducting an official reveal of the Switch 2 hardware. Fans are definitely anticipating it with fervor, considering the age of the current Nintendo Switch, as are game developers and publishers alike.
