Nintendo has officially confirmed that players can utilize the Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls on the Home screen, sparking excitement among fans eager to explore the new functionalities of the Nintendo Switch 2. Since the initial reveal of the console, there has been much speculation about the potential applications of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received confirmation that the Joy-Con can operate in "mouse mode," allowing players to glide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate left-click and right-click actions, much like a traditional mouse. Additionally, the option to use two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, either one in each hand or with one in standard mode and the other in mouse mode, adds a versatile layer to the gaming experience.
The latest update, showcased on the Nintendo Today app and shared via X/Twitter, reveals that the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2. As demonstrated:

Nintendo explained that by "placing the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on the screen." To activate the cursor, simply set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or any flat surface and move it as instructed. Furthermore, Nintendo detailed that "while using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," enabling seamless navigation on the Home menu and within compatible software. When you're ready to switch back to using the thumbstick, just reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.
Although the exact number of games that will support these mouse controls remains undisclosed, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology in action with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the innovative wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The eagerly awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to launch on June 5. Pre-orders for the console opened on April 24, maintaining the price at $449.99, and they sold out rapidly as expected.
