The Nintendo Switch 2 is officially here, and its reveal showcased some exciting new features. Beyond the new Joy-Cons (with apparent mouse functionality via optical sensors), a significant, albeit subtle, improvement is the addition of a second USB-C port.

The original Switch's single, under-mounted USB-C port often caused compatibility issues with third-party accessories. The proprietary nature of its USB-C implementation frequently led to problems, including the risk of damaging the console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts two USB-C ports.

This dual-port design on the Switch 2 strongly suggests a move towards standard USB-C compliance. This is a major upgrade, considering the mature USB-C standard's capacity for high-speed data transfer, 4K display output, and even external GPU connectivity (via Thunderbolt).
