Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following recent claims by Genki, an American accessory maker, Nintendo has officially refuted rumors surrounding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 showcase at CES 2025. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement that the images and videos circulating are not official, and that Genki did not receive the hardware from Nintendo.
Genki, known for its range of gaming accessories including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by displaying a 3D-printed Switch 2 mockup. They also reportedly shared purported release date information with attendees and journalists, claiming possession of a functional Switch 2 unit. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo has yet to make any substantial announcements regarding the Switch 2, only confirming that news is forthcoming and that backward compatibility with the original Switch will be a feature. This public denial by Nintendo suggests an official announcement regarding the Switch 2 may be imminent.
