If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential *Part 3* video game, prepare for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has recently dashed any hopes of a *Part 3* being in development—or even on the horizon.
In an extensive interview with Variety, Druckmann focused primarily on the *The Last of Us* TV series. However, when questioned about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*, he offered a definitive response:
"I was waiting for this question," he said, with a sigh. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it."
The question now is whether to take Druckmann's words at face value. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged with *Intergalactic*, a project unveiled at The Game Awards last December. With no release window announced, *Intergalactic* is likely years away from completion. Given their focus on this new space-themed game, it's improbable that Naughty Dog has the bandwidth for *The Last of Us Part 3* anytime soon. Druckmann might be playing it close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely not ready to commit. Only time will tell if his stance changes or if he's truly finished with the series.
If you're still yearning for more *The Last of Us* content, the television series offers a promising alternative. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann is uncertain about how many seasons it will take to conclude the story from *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that the series might wrap up in a total of four seasons.
