How Big Is the Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch File Size?

The much-anticipated day-one patch for *Monster Hunter Wilds* has just been released, and it comes with a hefty file size of 18GB. This significant update was first rolled out on PlayStation 5, with plans to extend it to other platforms soon. While Capcom has not yet shared the official patch notes, the community is buzzing with speculation about what this update might include.

Many fans are hopeful that this patch will introduce high-resolution textures, which were noticeably absent in the review copies distributed to critics. The inclusion of these textures could explain the large file size, as they demand considerable storage space. Additionally, since the patch debuted on the PlayStation 5, it's likely to feature enhancements tailored for the PS5 Pro, given Capcom's confirmation that *Monster Hunter Wilds* is a PS5 Pro-enhanced title at launch. These enhancements are expected to boost gameplay performance for console players.

Beyond visual upgrades, the patch is also expected to include critical bug fixes. Despite Capcom's diligent efforts to refine the game, some issues remain, and addressing them in the day-one patch is a move fans appreciate. Although labeled as a day-one patch (version 1.000.020), pre-order customers can download it before the official release date. Players with slower internet connections should consider installing the update before February 28 to ensure a seamless first playthrough.

It's important to note that this patch is not expected to bring new content. Instead, it focuses on enhancing gameplay and resolving existing issues. For those eager for fresh additions, *Monster Hunter Wilds* will offer three paid DLC packs post-launch, alongside two free content updates. The first free DLC, slated for spring, will introduce Mizutsune and new event quests, with more content, including new monsters and missions, arriving in the summer.

*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
