If you're a fan of robot role-playing games and have been keeping an eye on global game releases, you might be disappointed to hear about Medabot Survivors. This new entry in the beloved Medabots franchise introduces exciting bullet heaven action but is currently exclusive to Japan on iOS and Android platforms. Set to launch on February 10th, this game brings the series back to mobile devices, yet remains out of reach for fans outside Japan.
As reported by Gematsu, Medabots might ring a bell for those who grew up amidst the fervor following Pokémon's success. During that time, there was a significant push to introduce various Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to Western audiences. While Digimon managed to carve out a notable presence (and some argue it even surpassed Pokémon), Medabots never quite achieved the same level of popularity in the West.
However, in its home country of Japan, Medabots has established itself as a formidable franchise. Although it may not be world-dominating, it enjoys a much stronger following than it ever did abroad. It's no surprise, then, that the next evolution for Medabots is a foray into the Survivors-like genre. Unfortunately, for now, only fans in Japan can enjoy Medabot Survivors.
**Surviving the Genre**
While the term "Survivors-like" might suggest a new genre, it's worth noting that this style of gameplay has been around much longer than the popular game Vampire Survivors. The release of Medabot Survivors is not only a treat for dedicated fans but also a fascinating development as this genre continues to gain traction worldwide.
Having some familiarity with the Japanese gaming scene, I can attest that there are numerous excellent releases that unfortunately may never make it to other markets. However, if Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that it might eventually become available globally.
