Marvel's small-screen adaptations have a rich history, from the classic "Incredible Hulk" to the Netflix series featuring Daredevil and Luke Cage. While previous attempts to integrate live-action TV shows into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) faltered (remember "Runaways" and "Cloak and Dagger"?), Marvel Studios launched a new era in 2021 with Disney+. This marked a significant shift, deeply connecting the Disney+ series to the immensely popular film franchise.
With "Spider-Man: Freshman Year" (the 13th Disney+ Marvel show in four years) recently released, we've ranked the preceding 12 Disney+ Marvel series. This aggregated ranking represents the collective opinion of IGN's Marvel experts. "Spider-Man: Freshman Year"'s ranking will be added later.

Secret Invasion
Disney+Surprisingly, "Secret Invasion," based on a pivotal Marvel Comics storyline, received overwhelmingly negative feedback. Director Ali Selim's admission of not reading the comics and his belief that they weren't necessary for a good story contributed to its shortcomings. While the MCU has successfully incorporated creative changes, "Secret Invasion" lacked a compelling vision. Its attempt to emulate "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"'s espionage tone fell flat due to slow pacing, a poorly received AI-generated opening sequence, the unceremonious death of a key female character, and the introduction of a forgettable new character.

Echo
Disney+A significant improvement over "Secret Invasion," "Echo" still ranks lower due to a shortened episode count that left some viewers wanting more. Alaqua Cox's return as Echo delivers an action-packed story exploring her life on the reservation. The series features compelling action sequences, notably a fight against Daredevil, and a predominantly Indigenous cast and crew. While not as impactful as other shows, its unique emotional depth and representation make it worthwhile.
-
Moon Knight
Disney+Starring Oscar Isaac, "Moon Knight" didn't resonate strongly enough with voters. The series explores Marc Spector's multiple personalities in a dark, surrealist narrative blending elements of various films and shows. While featuring strong performances from Isaac, May Calamawy (Scarlet Scarab), F. Murray Abraham (Khonshu), and Ethan Hawke (Dr. Arthur Harrow), it failed to achieve a higher ranking or secure a second season.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Disney+Despite the strong chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" fell short of expectations. Murky moral dilemmas, heavy reliance on the Blip storyline, and a focus on espionage over action hindered its success. Production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic likely impacted the final product. Nevertheless, its narrative elements are crucial to understanding the current MCU, particularly the "Thunderbolts" film.
