LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has announced ambitious plans to significantly expand the company's digital footprint, venturing into the world of video game development. This expansion will involve both in-house development and strategic partnerships.
“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing,” stated Christiansen.
This strategic shift doesn't signal an end to LEGO's licensing agreements with third-party developers. Recent reports indicate that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new game, likely based on a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO's existing collaborations highlight its commitment to the gaming industry. The hugely successful LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite, a partnership with Epic Games, exemplifies the brand's ability to seamlessly integrate into popular gaming platforms. The long-standing relationship with TT Games has yielded a prolific series of adventure games over the past two decades. While new projects from TT Games remain under wraps, speculation points towards a new LEGO Harry Potter game, potentially building on the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Further demonstrating the brand's versatility, LEGO collaborated with 2K Games on LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game released last year.
