The pricing for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will vary between Japan and the rest of the world, catering to different market needs and currency values. Dive in to explore the detailed pricing strategy for the different versions of the Switch 2.
Switch 2 Japan Price Lower Than Global Version
Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 will come with different price tags in Japan and globally. This new gaming console will be available in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively for Japan, and a Multi-Language System for worldwide markets. The Japanese version will retail at around $330, significantly lower than the Multi-Language System's price of $449.99—a difference of over $100. This pricing discrepancy is largely due to the current weak yen against the USD, making it less appealing for tourists to buy gadgets in Japan.
While the Multi-Language System version will be available for purchase in Japan, the Japanese-language system is exclusively for sale within the country. It requires a Nintendo Account set to Japan and supports only Japanese language. Additionally, the software available on this version is limited to what's offered on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
For gamers interested in using the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. More information regarding this version will be unveiled on April 4.
