Hearthstone has officially unveiled detailed information about the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, setting a release date of January 21. This Mini-Set, which is part of The Great Dark Beyond expansion, introduces 49 new cards, making it the largest Mini-Set in Hearthstone's history. The cards are divided into class-specific cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique neutral Legendary card.
During the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, Hearthstone introduced the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, marking a crossover with Blizzard's cherished yet underappreciated sci-fi RTS game, StarCraft. While initial details were sparse, more comprehensive information was promised post-New Year.
Two months after the initial announcement, Hearthstone has revealed the full scope of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set. It contains 49 new cards, exceeding the usual number by 11. Each Hearthstone class receives three new cards, while each of the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—contributes five cards that align with specific classes, including a Legendary card per faction. The Mini-Set is rounded out with a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty. Hearthstone has already showcased several of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the week leading up to the launch.

- January 21
The cards for the Zerg faction, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize spawning numerous Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk to deal damage proportional to the Zergling count. The Protoss cards, accessible to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, focus on mana manipulation to facilitate the deployment of high-cost cards like the Carrier. Meanwhile, the Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes benefit from the Starship mechanic introduced in The Great Dark Beyond, with new Starship Pieces and strategies to launch multiple Starships, including a unique Starship featuring the Mech creature type.
Despite its larger size, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price tag. While the cards can be obtained from The Great Dark Beyond packs, a complete set of Heroes of StarCraft cards is available for $20 or 2500 gold, which is $5 and 500 gold more than the standard Mini-Set price. The all-Golden version of the set is priced at $80 or 12,000 gold, compared to the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. However, players can purchase faction-specific packs for $10 or 1200 gold, offering a more affordable option.
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streaming events: StarCast on January 23 at 10 AM PST, where StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 will showcase the new cards, and HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST, featuring Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two regular and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by watching these events on Twitch, providing an exciting opportunity for fans to gain free cards.
