Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack welcomes two classic F-Zero GBA racers!
Get ready to experience the thrill of high-speed futuristic racing! Nintendo has announced the arrival of F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend on the Switch Online + Expansion Pack, launching October 11, 2024.
These classic Game Boy Advance titles bring the iconic F-Zero experience to a new generation. First launched in Japan in 1990, the F-Zero series has a long history of pushing gaming boundaries, renowned for its breakneck speeds and intense competition. Its influence on other racing franchises is undeniable, notably SEGA's Daytona USA. The series is known for its challenging tracks, intense rivalries between "F-Zero machines," and its memorable protagonist, Captain Falcon (also a Super Smash Bros. veteran).
F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and later internationally in 2004, joins the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax, making its long-awaited Western debut. F-Zero Climax, released in 2004, marked the last mainline F-Zero game for nearly two decades until the release of F-Zero 99 on Switch last year. Game designer Takaya Imamura has cited the popularity of Nintendo's Mario Kart series as a contributing factor to the F-Zero franchise's prolonged hiatus.
This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack gives subscribers access to both games, offering various race modes including Grand Prix, story modes, and time trials. Prepare for intense competition and exhilarating speed! Dive into the future of racing – F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend await!
