For much of the 21st century, Final Fantasy games were PlayStation exclusives. However, with a nearly 40-year history and a need to reach new generations of players (and boost profits!), Square Enix, like many publishers, has embraced multi-platform releases. Beyond PC ports, they've notably catered to Nintendo's handheld market with numerous remasters and special editions.
This isn't entirely new territory. The Final Fantasy series' origins are deeply intertwined with Nintendo, starting with the original game's 1987 debut on the Famicom. In fact, the first six mainline entries launched on Nintendo platforms before Square Enix shifted its primary focus to PlayStation with Final Fantasy VII.
With Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth's PC launch and a significant Magic: The Gathering expansion shining a spotlight on Final Fantasy in 2025, many are eager to explore the series. Below is a complete list of Final Fantasy games currently available on the Nintendo Switch, perfect for newcomers and veterans alike.

Final Fantasy I–VI Pixel Remaster

The first six Final Fantasy games are available in Square Enix's Pixel Remaster collection. Each features updated graphics, rearranged soundtracks, improved UIs, and new galleries. For a classic Final Fantasy experience, this is the ideal way to play.
The Pixel Remasters are sold individually or as a bundle. Final Fantasy VI, with its immersive storyline, is a particularly strong recommendation.

(The remaining sections would follow a similar structure, with concise descriptions and image placements for each game. Due to the length, I've omitted them here. The structure would remain consistent: Game Title, Image, Short Description, Game Info Box with Release Date and Platforms.)
The most recent mainline release, Final Fantasy XVI, remains exclusive to PS5 and PC. The likelihood of a mainline FF game on Switch in the near future is low, given Square Enix's focus on the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. While unlikely for the current Switch, rumors suggest Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth might be part of a Switch 2 launch.
