Dragon Quest X is coming to mobile, but so far only in Japan

Author : Brooklyn Mar 21,2025

Longtime fans of the *Dragon Quest* series know its vast library of games and spin-offs. One often-overlooked title, the MMORPG-style *Dragon Quest X*, is finally getting a mobile release—in Japan, at least. Starting tomorrow, Japanese players can download the offline version of *Dragon Quest X* on iOS and Android devices for a discounted price.

As reported by Gematsu, this mobile release offers a single-player experience of *Dragon Quest X Offline*, a version initially launched for consoles and PC in 2022. Interestingly, plans to bring *Dragon Quest X* to mobile were first discussed back in 2013 by Ubitu.

Unlike other *Dragon Quest* games, *Dragon Quest X* features real-time combat and other MMORPG elements. The offline version, released in 2022, strips away the online components for a self-contained adventure.

Here be dragons

Unfortunately, a global release for the mobile version doesn't seem imminent. The original *Dragon Quest X* was exclusive to Japan, and while a mobile offline port is exciting news for Japanese players, there's currently no official word on international availability.

This is disappointing for many fans, including myself, who have fond memories of titles like *Sentinels of the Starry Skies*. The chance to experience even an alternate version of *Dragon Quest X* on mobile would be a welcome addition.
