Crunchyroll Releases Kardboard Kings, a Card Shop and Collector Simulator

Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Best of all, it's free for Crunchyroll subscribers!

The Kardboard Kings Experience:

Step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop – a legacy built on card collecting and mastery of the legendary Warlock card game. Harry's not alone; he's partnered with Giuseppe, a surprisingly shrewd cockatoo with a talent for deal-making.

Located by the seaside, Harry's shop presents a constant stream of customers. Players must navigate the complexities of buying, selling, and trading cards, balancing customer satisfaction with the temptation of a little (or a lot of) shrewd profiteering.

The game boasts charming characters brimming with wit and pop culture references, complemented by over 100 uniquely illustrated cards, including shiny variants.

Gameplay Mechanics:

The core gameplay loop is simple: buy low, sell high. However, as the game progresses, card conditions and set rarities become dynamic factors, influencing value alongside foil finishes and card popularity.

Kardboard Kings also incorporates a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where players face challenging duelists, host tournaments, organize booster pack parties, and manage inventory through strategic clearance sales.

Download Kardboard Kings now from the Google Play Store if you're a Crunchyroll member. Don't forget to check out our article on the linguistic puzzles in LOK Digital!
