Captain America: Brave New World Projected to Beat Estimates With $100 Million Domestic Box Office Over Presidents Day Weekend

Captain America: Brave New World surpasses expectations, raking in an estimated $100 million domestically during its Presidents Day weekend debut.

Comscore reports a three-day domestic gross of approximately $88.5 million from 4,105 theaters, projecting a four-day total of $100 million. Adding the impressive $92.4 million in international revenue, the film's global weekend haul is estimated at $192.4 million.

Deadline reveals a production budget of $180 million, with a break-even point estimated at $425 million globally.

This strong opening places Captain America: Brave New World as the fourth-best Presidents Day debut, trailing only three other superhero films: Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million).

Despite mixed critical reception—IGN awarded a 5/10 rating, citing a lack of innovation and only partially successful performances from the cast—the film's box office success is noteworthy. The film's future performance will be crucial in determining whether it can reverse a recent downturn for Marvel Cinematic Universe films (excluding last year's highly successful Deadpool & Wolverine), and build anticipation for upcoming releases: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
