Capcom has cleverly teased the upcoming Resident Evil 9 in a celebration video marking the impressive milestone of 10 million players for Resident Evil 4. Released on social media on April 25, the video features Ada Wong in a secretive conversation with a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, casually making their way to the church.
The video takes an entertaining turn with Dr Salvador playing his chainsaw like a guitar to a rock tune, while Leon pumps his fist in the air. The backdrop features a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed something intriguing when the sign is viewed sideways: the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," symbolizing the number 9.
While some might dismiss this as a mere coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that a lower plank missing in earlier parts of the video was intentionally added, hinting at a deliberate tease. "I know what you did here," said one surprised fan, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.

Capcom has also confirmed that Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi will helm the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series. "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the setting might be an island inspired by Singapore.
