Blackroot Location Guide in Divinity Original Sin 2

Quick Links

In the world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the Blackroot herb stands out as a vital component, especially when you reach the fourth act of the game. To successfully complete the Meister's Ritual, directed by Meister Siva, you'll need to craft a special Ritual Bowl. This involves combining a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and the elusive Blackroot. Successfully crafting this bowl grants you access to the Hall of Echoes and the invaluable Night Vision skill.

The first time you undertake this ritual, all necessary ingredients are conveniently located in Siva's basement. However, subsequent rituals, which you can perform after earning a Source point, require you to source these ingredients yourself. While obtaining a ritual bowl and obsidian lancet is relatively straightforward, and you might already have them in your inventory, finding Blackroot can be a real challenge. If you're struggling to locate this herb, this guide is here to assist you.

Venture Into Cloisterwood

Cloisterwood, a dense forest in the northwestern part of Reaper's Coast, is just a short trek north from Driftwood. Once you're immersed in the forest's depths, press and hold the left ALT key to highlight all nearby items.

You'll soon spot various herbs, including the Blackroots you seek, nestled at the base of trees. While you only need one Blackroot for the ritual, it's wise to collect several as a precaution. Although we won't delve into spoilers regarding the number of times you'll need to perform the ritual, remember that you can undertake it each time you gain a Source point.

Cloisterwood Exploration Tips

Cloisterwood is teeming with secrets, including two NPCs who can aid you in earning Source points: Hannag and Jahan, the latter also pivotal for progressing Lohse's storyline. Hidden within some ruins, you'll encounter Eithne, an undead trader. Engage with her and select the "Divine Order" option to unlock a side quest.

Further north, you'll find a pier with the Dead Ferryman NPC, who can transport you to Bloodmoon Island. These are just a few of the notable characters you'll meet in Cloisterwood. The forest is also home to other hidden gems like the Wrecker's Cave and the chance to acquire a unique loremaster amulet by conversing with the spirit of a ship captain. If you're exploring Cloisterwood for the first time, take your time to thoroughly investigate the area. It's recommended to steer clear of the crucified witch, Alice Alisceon, until you reach at least level 15.
