Get ready for an exciting new addition to the Monster Hunter series that you can take with you wherever you go! Introducing Monster Hunter Outlanders, a thrilling mobile game developed by Capcom in collaboration with TiMi Studio Group, the masterminds behind hits like Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokemon Unite. This free-to-play open-world survival RPG promises to bring the beloved Monster Hunter experience to your smartphone, allowing you to hunt "anytime and anywhere."

Set in expansive environments, Monster Hunter Outlanders offers players the chance to explore lush grasslands, swim in serene lakes, and witness monsters in their natural habitats. The game aims to retain the core gameplay elements of the Monster Hunter series while optimizing it for mobile devices. According to Dong Huang of TiMi Studio, the focus is on maximizing the fun of the unique battle system while keeping the essence of what makes Monster Hunter special.

While an official release date is yet to be announced, Capcom and TiMi are organizing playtests to refine the game based on player feedback. To stay in the loop and possibly participate in these tests, interested players can sign up on the official Monster Hunter Outlanders website. Completing a short survey about your gaming experience and Monster Hunter preferences could increase your chances of joining future beta tests.

TiMi Studio's reputation for delivering visually stunning mobile games sets high expectations for Monster Hunter Outlanders. Early footage and screenshots suggest that the game's graphics could rival those of Monster Hunter Rise on the Nintendo Switch. Although the developers haven't disclosed the minimum device requirements, a survey on their website hints at compatibility with a range of Snapdragon processors, from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to the Snapdragon 845, indicating that the game is designed to run smoothly on various devices.

Everything We Know About Monster Hunter Outlanders

The open world of Monster Hunter Outlanders will feature seamlessly connected environments, including forests, swamps, and deserts, enhanced by dynamic climates and a living ecosystem. Players can witness turf wars between large monsters, adding to the game's immersive experience. Familiar monsters like Diablos, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Pukei-Pukei, Barroth, Rathian, and Rathalos will return, alongside a mysterious large monster shrouded in clouds, which may influence certain environmental conditions and cause mutations in other monsters.

Combat in Monster Hunter Outlanders has been tailored for mobile devices, with many weapon mechanics preserved, though the extent of these adaptations remains undisclosed. A new building system allows players to gather materials and construct houses or items to aid in exploration, reminiscent of Wild Hearts' Karakuris. Whether this system will also enhance combat is yet to be revealed.

Unlike previous titles, players will select from a lineup of characters, each with unique personalities, stories, specialized weapons, and skills. While weapons and armors from past games will be available for customization, the method of obtaining these characters is still unknown. IGN suggests that the game may include in-app purchases, hinting at a potential gacha system where luck could play a role in acquiring desired characters.

Additionally, Monster Hunter Outlanders introduces new "buddies" to assist in item gathering and monster hunting. Alongside the familiar Palicoes, players can expect to team up with a little monkey and a bird, whose full capabilities will be detailed in future announcements.
