Insomniac Games Remains Silent on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date
Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained tight-lipped regarding the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio confirmed ambitious projects and a robust roadmap, Co-Head Chad Dezern stated in a Variety interview that they are focusing on existing projects and aren't ready to divulge information on upcoming releases, including a potential 2025 release for Wolverine. "We have pent-up excitement, but we have to hold onto it," Dezern explained.
Wolverine's Development: A Look Back
Initially unveiled during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is slated for PlayStation 5. In 2023, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed its shared universe with Spider-Man, stating they're both set in the same universe ("they're all in 1048"). Despite the simultaneous announcements, crossovers have been minimal, limited to a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") in Spider-Man 2.
A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed Wolverine's development assets and gameplay footage to the public.
Insomniac's Current Slate: Spider-Man 2 and Beyond
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac clarified that no further story DLCs are planned for the game, though the PC version will include all post-launch updates, including new suits and New Game+. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available, with the latter offering exclusive suits.
