Old School RuneScape's latest chapter, Varlamore: The Rising Darkness, introduces a thrilling new adventure in the expanded northern regions. Players face a formidable challenge: Hueycoatl, a massive serpent lurking in the Hailstorm Mountains. This perilous journey requires collaboration with unexpected allies – members of the Dwarven Party and a priest – to overcome this fearsome beast.
Victory over Hueycoatl yields impressive rewards, including the Tome of Earth and a Dragon Hunter Wand, the first magic-infused dragonbane weapon. Players also earn the Hueycoatl Hide Armour, a testament to their triumph.
Beyond the icy peaks, the island of Aldarin offers new Herblore activities. Aspiring alchemists can cultivate, blend, and master a diverse range of herbs.
For a change of pace, the Colossal Wyrm Agility Course provides a unique challenge. Players assist Worm Tongue, an elderly anteater, in ridding the Colossal Wyrm's remains of a termite infestation. This endeavor rewards players with Agility XP and items such as the Varlamore Graceful Recolour and a skeleton transmog for their Squirrel pet.
This update continues the storyline established in Children of the Sun and Twilight’s Promise with the new quest, The Heart of Darkness. Players investigate the Twilight Emissaries to expose the would-be assassin of Servius. Further details on Varlamore: The Rising Darkness quests are available in the Old School RuneScape developer diary.
