Tarkov Update 0.16.0.0: Major Changes Unveiled

The highly anticipated update for Escape from Tarkov has arrived with version 0.16.0.0, bringing a host of new features, bug fixes, and exciting content. Battlestate Games has released an extensive changelog alongside a captivating new trailer to showcase what's in store for players.

Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update

One of the standout additions is the new event called Khorovod. This event not only introduces special tasks with unique rewards but also a dedicated Khorovod mode. The objective is to light up a Christmas tree and protect it, available at various stages across six different locations.

For those who enjoy the grind, the introduction of Prestige mode in Escape from Tarkov's PvP gameplay adds a new layer of excitement. Similar to mechanics in Call of Duty, once players reach level 55, complete specific quests, and gather sufficient resources, they can opt to reset their character. This reset allows them to retain some equipment and earn rewards that persist through wipes. These rewards include achievements, exclusive cosmetics, and additional tasks. Initially, two prestige levels are available, with the promise of eight more to be added later, ensuring prolonged engagement for dedicated fans.

Other significant changes in this update include the switch to the Unity 2022 engine, enhancing the game's performance and visual quality. A new Frostbite status effect has been introduced, which reduces vision and stamina if your character catches a cold. Players can mitigate this by using alcohol, warm sources, and shelters.

The update also brings winter-themed upgrades and changes to the game environment. The Customs map has been revamped with new textures, objects, and points of interest. Additionally, seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher, have been added to the arsenal.

Players can now discover hidden exfils to leave raids, though these require special items to locate. A new quest chain of BTR Driver and Hideout customization options have been introduced, along with a continuous healing feature. Recoil balancing and visual changes further refine the gameplay experience.

Alongside these updates, numerous balance changes and fixes have been implemented. With the usual wipe accompanying this update, players will have plenty to explore once the servers go live in a few hours.
