Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann Confirms Second Unannounced Game

Author : Layla Jun 18,2025

Naughty Dog's president, Neil Druckmann, has confirmed that the studio is currently developing a second, unannounced title in addition to *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*. This revelation came during an interview with the *Press X to Continue* podcast, where Druckmann detailed his current responsibilities at Sony-owned Naughty Dog.

Regarding *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*, Druckmann is working alongside two game directors—Matthew Gallant and Kurt Margenau—and co-writing the game’s narrative with Claire Carré, the studio’s narrative director. However, he did not disclose which director is leading the charge on the other undisclosed project.

“There’s another game being developed at Naughty Dog where I’m more of a producer role—I mentor, observe the team, provide feedback, and act as the executive in the room,” Druckmann explained.

“I enjoy all these roles. Switching between them keeps my job exciting and fresh. I’m never bored.”

Details about the production status of both titles remain vague. Since *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet* has already been announced, it likely has more development momentum behind it. However, the identity of the second project remains under wraps.

One possibility is *The Last of Us 3*, although Druckmann has previously expressed uncertainty about its future while hinting he already envisions an ending for the series. Given his current producer-like involvement in the second game, it seems unlikely this would be the next entry in *The Last of Us* saga, as he would presumably want a more hands-on role if that were the case.

Another potential candidate could be a new *Uncharted* adventure. It’s been nearly seven years since *Uncharted: The Lost Legacy* launched in 2017. Alternatively, the project might be an entirely new intellectual property, much like *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet* itself.

It’s also possible this second game may never see a full release or official unveiling by Sony. Naughty Dog has faced internal challenges in recent years, including the cancellation of *The Last of Us Online*, which was scrapped in December 2023 to refocus on single-player development. At the time, the studio cited concerns that continuing the live-service title would have drained resources needed for future single-player experiences.

Historically, Naughty Dog has struggled to maintain equal focus on two major projects simultaneously, often prioritizing one over the other. The studio hasn’t released a completely original title since *The Last of Us Part II* in 2020, relying on remakes and compilation packages in the interim.

Neil Druckmann says Naughty Dog is working on a second game.

As for *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*, it features a high-profile voice cast including Tati Gabrielle (*The Uncharted Movie*) as protagonist Jordan A. Mun and Kumail Nanjiani (*Marvel's Eternals*) as Colin Graves. Despite being playable internally, the game won't launch until at least 2027—a long wait, but one Druckmann insists will be worth it.

“We are playing it at the office, and it’s incredible,” Druckmann said during a red carpet interview ahead of *The Last of Us Season 2* premiere. “It’s really good. I can’t wait to finally show gameplay to the public because what we’ve shown so far is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot more depth beneath the surface.”
