Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's new subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for the development and future updates of Pokémon Sleep. This marks a shift from the original developer, Select Button.
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
Announced via an in-app notification on the Japanese version of Pokémon Sleep, the transition signifies a change in management. The announcement stated that development and operation were previously shared between Select Button and The Pokémon Company, but will now gradually transfer to Pokémon Works. The impact on the global version of the game is currently unclear.
Pokémon Works, established earlier this year, is a joint venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Its representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, stated the company aims to make Pokémon experiences more immersive and enjoyable. The company's past projects include contributions to Pokémon HOME. Their shared location in Tokyo with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, hints at a strong connection within the Pokémon development ecosystem.
While the specific changes to Pokémon Sleep are yet to be detailed, the transition suggests a potential evolution of the game's features and overall experience. The future of Pokémon Sleep under Pokémon Works' direction is eagerly anticipated.
