A Pokémon enthusiast has crafted a Mega Evolution design for the Normal/Flying-type Toucannon, showcasing their creativity online. The Pokémon franchise currently boasts 48 Mega Evolutions; 30 debuted in Pokémon X and Y (Generation VI), with the remainder introduced in the 2014 remakes of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
Mega Evolutions are temporary transformations enhancing a Pokémon's appearance, stats, and movepool. Notable Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution include Lucario, Mewtwo (with two Mega forms each), and Charizard. Given the vast Pokémon roster (over 1000), fan-made Mega Evolutions are unsurprising.
On the Pokémon subreddit, user Just-Drawing-Mons unveiled their Mega Toucannon concept. This Alolan regional bird (Pikipek and Trumbeak's final evolution) receives a redesigned appearance, most notably a modified beak resembling a scope. While the artist didn't detail stat or ability changes, the visual overhaul is striking.
Fan-Made Mega Evolutions and Redesigns
Just-Drawing-Mons' portfolio also includes a Mega Skarmory (Generation II Steel/Flying-type) and a unique Fighting-type Alakazam redesign.
Mega Evolutions, previously featured in Pokémon GO, Pokémon Masters EX, and Pokémon Unite, are slated for a return in the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Set in Lumiose City (Kalos region, Generation VI), this Switch title is anticipated for a 2025 release.
Highly Requested Mega Evolutions
Many fans eagerly await Mega Evolutions for certain Pokémon in the next mainline game. Strong contenders include Dragonite (Generation I), the Generation VI starters (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie), and Flygon. Interestingly, Flygon was initially planned for a Mega Evolution in Pokémon X and Y, but design challenges prevented its inclusion, according to Ken Sugimori, the franchise's lead character designer.
